Found the Expanse clear and clean but unexciting on a Jotunheim 2, but on a Willsenton R800i tube amp it became their most enjoyable headphone, ranking it above the Utopia, Verite and Empyrean.

positivedetailed

Bought the Expanse as an endgame headphone and is very happy: comfortable for hours, sturdy, easy to drive on a JDS Atom, though not a huge improvement over cheaper gear.

positivecomfortable

Auditioned the Expanse at CanJam and found it one of their favourites, perfectly balanced yet fun and detailed.

positivedetailed

A/B'd the Expanse extensively against the Stealth and finds it a step up in bass, natural vocal timbre and soundstage, though the Stealth keeps the edge in imaging and isolation.

positivewide soundstage

Tried the Expanse at CanJam and found it beats the HD800S in detail, separation and bass but is more neutral and less engaging.

mixeddetailed

Listened to the Expanse and Stealth at CanJam and enjoyed the Stealth more; the Expanse might not be for them.

mixed

Found the Expanse more enjoyable than the Stealth at CanJam, but still prefers the Focal Utopia and Audeze LCD-3 over it.

mixed

The Expanse is the most realistic-sounding headphone they've heard.

positive

Their late-2025 Expanse, Stealth and E3 have no channel imbalance, and DCA support is top notch.

positive

Finds the DCA Expanse enormously comfortable: huge cups but so light it's like wearing nothing.
