Personally loves the HDB 630, though its ANC is not close to their old XM4.

positive

The HDB 630 is their endgame closed-back, though the pads quickly wear and peel with sweat.

positivebuild quality issues

Found the HDB 630 bland-sounding and plasticky.

negativebuild quality issues

Tested the HDB 630 for a couple of weeks against B&W rivals and found it tied for least favourite apart from build and comfort; the highs around 6 kHz felt shouty and fatiguing.

negativeharsh treble

After reaching the HD 800, has settled on the HDB 630 for its noise cancelling.

positivegreat noise cancelling

Returned the HDB 630: like most ANC headphones, the cancellation pressure affects the sound, and it can't be run passively.

negative

Amazed by how textured and three-dimensional their HDB 630 sounds.

positivedetailed

Much prefers the wired HD 480 Pro over the wireless HDB 630, though the HDB 630 still sounds better than most headphones for the money.

mixed

Took their HDB 630 to CanJam London to compare with the Noble Artemis; the HDB 630 could and should be built better for its price.

mixedbuild quality issues

Can't wear the HDB 630 for long sessions because its pads make their ears warm; preferred the Technics A1000 for comfort at similar sound.

mixeduncomfortable

Bought the HDB 630 to go wireless after years without a new high-end pair and finds it fantastic: great bass and clarity, very different from their HD 700 but fun.

“The first time in a long time where I've sat and listened to music just appreciating how good it sounds. Been especially impressed with how great the bass is on these and just how clear they are.”

Compared the HDB 630 with the HD 660S2 and finds it holds its own in mids and treble with better bass; excellent stock sound. The big downside is the pads, which get so hot they're nearly unusable in summer.

“They're trully amazing when it comes to sound quality. I've been able to compare them with the HD660S2 and the HDB 630 not only hold their own in the mids and treble but actually have better bass.”
