Compared the Momentum 5 with the Bose QC Ultra 2 and returned the Sennheiser, though it was close. Liked its punchy bass, strong noise cancelling, comfortable plush cups and roughly 60-hour replaceable battery, but found the mids and highs lacking even with EQ, the stage narrower, and the cups touch the tops of their ears.

“The Sennheiser Momentum 5's are definitely tuned flatter out of the box but man they can move some air. They have way more prominent bass and sub bass than the Bose.”

Bought the Momentum 5 after auditioning the PX8 and PX8 S2, PX7 S3, HDB 630 and Dali IO 10/12, and shares first impressions after two days. Out of the box a bit shy in the highs and short of punch despite deep sub-bass, but after some EQ it sounds energetic; the best balance of sound, fun, ANC and flexibility for them, and light and very comfortable.

“So, in neutral these cans are a bit shy in the highs and can use a bit more punch in the lows (kick thump f.i.). They have sub low for miles but appear a tad dull.”
