The Sony WF-1000XM6 has been their daily driver since release; having tested every bud since, the Status Pro X does nothing better.
For them the Sony WF-1000XM6's praised ANC hasn't been better than other buds, probably because it relies on foam tips they dislike.
Just got the Sony WF-1000XM6; the sound is good but noise cancelling was really weak despite tips and updates, so they sent them for replacement.
The Sony WF-1000XM6 has very good ANC once the fit is right, is comfortable for hours, and has superb control customisation.
The Sony WF-1000XM6 is the clear ANC winner over their Galaxy Buds 4 Pro, with really good sound for wireless earbuds.
Just got the Sony WF-1000XM6 and noticed pretty loud white noise with ANC on.
Bought the WF-1000XM6 and Status Pro X to compare over LDAC from Tidal: the XM6 wins on ANC and battery, and while its sound initially ranged from very good to horrible depending on genre, it sounded better on metal and classical a day later.
Prefers the WF-1000XM6 over the Status Pro X for its much wider, more holographic, immersive soundstage, while the Pro X is intimate and fatiguing.
Finds the WF-1000XM6 much better than the previous XM5.
The WF-1000XM6's highlight is a wide, airy soundstage, the best they've heard in closed earbuds, with stellar detail; ANC changes the response and lifts the bass, which they came to like.
Sleeps in the WF-1000XM6 for sound hypersensitivity and gets 8+ hours of music with ANC; the ANC beats their Pixel Buds Pro 2, AirPods Pro 2, Liberty 5, XM5 and QC Earbuds, and the sound is legit.
The WF-1000XM6 are their most used earbuds, travelling widely: exceptional sound over LDAC, amazing ANC, good but not class-leading mic, and they stay put at the gym and on runs; the case is less compact than the XM5's.
Calls the WF-1000XM6 amazing, but they sweat a lot with the foam tips and had to buy silicone replacements.
Wore the WF-1000XM6 almost non-stop for two weeks: very impressive for earbuds, a bit over 4 hours on LDAC, but returned them because the foam tips chafed.
Their WF-1000XM6 go quiet when they tilt their head or walk.
Their WF-1000XM6 stopped charging after a single 1 m drop and had to go in for warranty.
Absolutely loves the WF-1000XM6 for travel: great ANC and a fun listen, alternating with Bose QC Ultra over-ears when flying.
Takes the WF-1000XM6 when travelling because of its superior noise cancelling.
Owns both the XM5 and XM6 and finds the WF-1000XM6 better in every way: sound, calls, comfort, even the case.
Would avoid the WF-1000XM6 for office calls: multipoint between Spotify and Teams works great, but the battery is drained before lunch and people complain the mic is muffled or too quiet.
Has used the WF-1000XM6 in the office and outside with no complaints.
Bought the WF-1000XM6 for $330: great sound and noise cancelling but an awful fit, so they returned them for AirPods Pro 3.
“I bought $330 Sony XM6 buds which had an awful fit but sounded great and had great ANC I returned them and bought $180 APP3 which have a good fit, great ANC, but don't sound as good.”
Recently got the WF-1000XM6 and loved the sound but wasn't blown away for the price even with EQ; the charging case was defective and the buds put a lot of pressure on their ears over long sessions, so they're returning them.
“then the i found that the charging case was defective and wouldn't charge, and I also found them to put a lot of pressure on my ear which made them uncomfortable for long hours, so I'm returning them”
Has owned the WF-1000XM6 and found its noise cancelling only very average with their ear shape, behind the Bose QC Ultra Earbuds (2nd Gen) and the Momentum True Wireless 5.
Owns the WF-1000XM6, WF-1000XM5 and Liberty 5 Pro: the XM6 has the best noise cancelling, by far the best transparency and sound of the three and 8–9 hour battery, but its mic is poor in noisy places.
Replaced a dead WF-1000XM5 with the XM6 but got a bad unit; finds its noise cancelling and sound almost indistinguishable from the cheaper Liberty 5 Pro.
Has used the WF-1000XM6 for two weeks, around eight hours a day, and still has about half the battery left each day; the case lasted three recharges. Calls the noise cancelling the best they have tried, ahead of Sennheiser and Bose earbuds, though the speak-to-chat mode amplifies wind. The foam tips can be hard on sensitive ears; one size smaller fixed it. Rates them 9.5/10.
“Speaking of the noise cancellation, it honestly is the best I’ve tried, I am a huge music fan and the sennheiser and the boss competition earbuds do not compare to how the music sounds while using noise cancelling.”
Bought the WF-1000XM6 in Japan to replace AirPods Pro 2 and, after a day, finds the sound great for metal, with more crunch and bass, a good connection and a comfortable fit. Gets occasional audio cuts and finds it odd that firmware updates need the buds out of the case.
A week after buying the WF-1000XM6, the right earbud randomly makes a buzzing, vibrating sound outdoors, four or five times in two hours of wear; never had this with their Soundcore A40 over eight months and is considering a return.
Owns both the WF-1000XM6 and AirPods Pro 3 and, even on an iPhone, prefers the Sony for nearly everything: much better sound, and it's the pair they take on frequent flights.
“I have both and prefer the XM6 for pretty much everything. I have an iPhone. I travel by plane often and have ended up taking only the XM6. The APP3 causes weird ear pressure with ANC during flights for me.”
An iPhone user and former AirPods Pro 2 owner who chose the WF-1000XM6: noise cancelling is great on both, but the Sony sounds better to them; says fit matters most.
Bought and quickly returned the WF-1000XM6 over fit: the shape hangs out of the ear, using the touch controls shifted the seal, and they often fell out. Didn't like the stock tuning, though the new app EQ got them to sound decent.
“I bought and very quickly returned the XM6 mainly due to fit issues, as the bizarre shape just sort of “hangs” out of your ear with no support from the concha.”
