Has had the Sony WF-1000XM5 about 18 months with no issues, though their AirPods still beat them overall.

The microphones on their Sony WF-1000XM5 stopped working.
Has used the Sony WF-1000XM5 daily for over three years; they still work, though the mics died, likely from rain.
Used the Sony WF-1000XM5 for two years and found its ANC much better than the AirPods Pro 3 that replaced it.
Bought the WF-1000XM5 at a great price but sold them weeks later: too large and bulky, falling out when lying on their side in bed.
Paid $130 for the WF-1000XM5 and found its ANC 10-20% worse than their $60 Soundcore Liberty 4 NC; feels the money was wasted.
Paid over $300 for the WF-1000XM5 but their partner always complains they can't hear them on calls; a Liberty 5 has better ANC and mic.
Their WF-1000XM5 used to pop out of their ears now and then when running with the stock tips.
Has had the WF-1000XM5 for a while and finds they deliver good sound; uses earbuds because over-ears are too warm.
Has had the WF-1000XM5 since July 2023 and they still work well: great sound, good battery and amazing ANC, but the mic is bad with ANC on and much better in ambient mode.
Tried the WF-1000XM5 for a year before giving up: heavy and uncomfortable even with better tips, ANC much worse than their XM4 on planes and loud streets, and good but only average sound for the price.
“I hate the XM5s. I tossed them in a drawer after trying them over and over for a year. First, they're heavy and uncomfortable even with better tips.”
Owned both the WF-1000XM5 and Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro and would take the Liberty: the Sony were so uncomfortable they had to return them, though technically fine, with better battery life.
Compared the WF-1000XM5 head to head with the Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro for flights and returned the Sony: it sounded better, but the Soundcore's mic was better and isolation was about equal.
Owns the WF-1000XM5 alongside the XM6 and Liberty 5 Pro: noise cancelling between the two, the weakest transparency, a poor mic in noisy places and 8–9 hour battery.
Didn't like the WF-1000XM5 much until switching to Comply foam tips, which made them much better; they really enjoy them now.
One earbud of their WF-1000XM5 died; they remember them as more comfortable than the XM6 but less stable in the ear than the Liberty 5 Pro.
Found the WF-1000XM5 good but painful in their ears, and replaced them with the Technics AZ100 and Huawei FreeBuds Pro 4.
Has owned the WF-1000XM5 for nearly three years: excellent noise cancelling (the best for flights), very good sound and long battery life; not the best for calls in noise, and the original foam tips still fit fine.
“I own XM5 for close to 3 year now. They have excellent ANC (the best for taking on flights), very good sound reproduction & long battery life.”
Recently sold their WF-1000XM5: really liked the sound, but the earbuds felt a bit heavy after a while, and they want to try wired IEMs.
Bought the WF-1000XM5 for about ₹10,500 for its price-to-performance and likes its sound signature, with good bass and weight.
Currently uses the WF-1000XM5 and loves them: amazing noise cancelling, good battery life and a good app; would fully recommend them.
